Western Ontario Drama League (WODL) Festival - 2019

Celebrating 150 Years of Theatre in Canada WODL-2019Logo

The Western Ontario Drama League was established in 1932 to unite community theatre groups in Western Ontario. This covers an area from Burlington west to Sarnia and Welland, and north to Tobermory. WODL has over two dozen member groups and their purpose is to encourage, assist and promote Community Theatre.  The organization also convenes an annual Theatre Festival which provides an educational experience to participating groups and an opportunity to showcase the talent across Western Ontario.

In the past, Festival has always been hosted by one of the WODL Member theatre groups. Volunteers from that theatre support festival shows, host receptions and adjudications, plan workshops and organize the gala. This year, in the spirit of community, Festival is being hosted by two groups, Guelph Little Theatre and Elmira Theatre Company.

Festival 2019 will be staged in Guelph supported by volunteers from Guelph Little Theatre who bring with them their experience in hosting two previous festival in recent years.  Elmira is providing eager volunteers to help on the administration side of the event including workshops and promoting shows and opportunities within the WODL community.   It’s an exciting collaboration which will surely bring a new perspective to Festival 2019.

This sense of community led to our choice of the Festival logo: the open hands ready to offer or accept whatever is offered as we come together in a Spotlight on Sharing.

Please join us the week of March 10-16 for five fabulous productions and connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or our website for information as it becomes available.
